The gnutools/cygwin/doc directory contains the reference documentation for the Cygwin Unix Emulator for Microsoft Windows. You need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader (or another PDF viewer) installed on your computer in order to read these documents. You can also obtain the latest documents from the Cygwin Web site.
