This file contains information about software and documentation installation. Software Installation ********************* You must load both the ISE Disk 1 and ISE Disk 2 CDs to successfully install your software. See the ISE 6.1i Release Notes and Installation Guide for more information on software installation. For information on the software version and service pack loaded on your computer, see the FILESET.TXT file available from the Xilinx XInfo System Checker. You can launch the XInfo System Checker by running the xinfo file from the root directory of ISE Disk 1 or ISE Disk 2 or from your operating system as follows: * Windows: Select Start > Programs > Xilinx ISE 6 > Accessories > XInfo System Checker. * UNIX: Run the xinfo file from the $XILINX/bin/sol or $XILINX/bin/sol64 directory. * LINUX: Run the xinfo file from the $XILINX/bin/lin directory. Note: The CORE Generator and FPGA Editor software tools are not available with ISE WebPACK installations. ISE WebPACK is not available for UNIX and LINUX operating systems. Software Registration ********************* During installation, you must enter your Product ID to receive a 12-digit Registration ID, which allows you to finish the software installation. Registration of Xilinx software on a "per end user" basis ensures that you receive the full complement of support and services to which you are entitled. Choose one of the following registration options, which are presented during installation: * Website (fastest approach) * E-mail * Fax Note: Registered ISE WebPACK customers are entitled to Web support only. To register, go to: http://www.xilinx.com/ise/webpack After you register, you can get more information about Web support at: http://www.xilinx.com/webpack/support/help.htm Software Manuals Installation ***************************** The Xilinx ISE documentation is automatically installed as part of the software installation. After you install the software, you can select the Help > Online Documentation command from your software tools to access the Software Manuals collection. For added convenience, Xilinx Software Manuals are also on the Web. Go to http://support.xilinx.com, and click the "Software Manuals" button in the left navigation bar. Note: The documentation is not installed as part of ISE WebPACK installations. Adobe Acrobat Reader+Search Installation **************************************** To ensure that you can view and search the PDF manuals, upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Reader+Search as follows: Windows: 1. Go to the root directory of the CD. 2. Go to the usenglish\acrobat\pc directory. 3. Double-click the executable file. UNIX: 1. Go to the root directory of the CD. 2. Go to the usenglish/acrobat/sol directory. 3. Copy the file in this directory to a local directory. 4. Go to the local directory. 5. Unzip the file and then extract the contents of the tar file. 6. Run the INSTALL script. LINUX: 1. Go to the root directory of the CD. 2. Go to the usenglish/acrobat/lin directory. 3. Copy the file in this directory to a local directory. 4. Go to the local directory. 5. Unzip the file and then extract the contents of the tar file. 6. Run the INSTALL script.
